To sum it up, it's not Rome or Venice, and I would not go there if I had only 3 days to see Italy, but if I compare what you see in Milano to what they boast about in other cities around the world (just to make an example, Philadelphia or Edimburgh or Bejing) then I think it's worth a visit. SeaTac Northbound Rest Area, Federal Way Washington. Also, Milano is very convenient because it's close to the Lakes (Garda, Maggiore, Como) and also to some nice little towns like Bergamo or Cremona. There are some museums to see like Brera, Poldi Pezzoli, you can see Leonardo's Last Supper. There are things to do (the Scala theatre is famous all over, the Duomo is very nice, the Castello Sforzesco too, a walk along via Montenapoleone can be nice, a walk around Brera will show you some very nice corners of old Milano. It is quite lively in the evenings but, being a colder city that Rome, most life happens inside instead than on the streets like in Rome or Firenze. However it has some nice spots, and it is certainly the design capital of Italy (names like Poliform, B&B, Artemide, Boffi and many others are all based in a narrow area 30km north of Milano) and the city where all the fashion business is. Obviously Milano is not Roma or Venice, in the sense that it never had the monuments that were built there and a good part of the old city was anyway destroyed during WW2. ![]()
